Nociones de estudiantes universitarios acerca del cine: un caso en México

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the notions of cinema in general by students of a career in communication, before taking subjects related to the seventh art, at a university located in northwestern Mexico. To reach this point, a questionnaire was designed which was applied to two generations of students at two different times and through the description of response frequencies it was found that their knowledge, with some exceptions, is standardized: they know more about Hollywood cinema than any other, including national cinema. In addition, they show greater interest in the technical aspect than the theoretical one, opting for issues of editing, camera management and lighting, among others. The important thing here is to highlight his predilection for the subject of audiovisual production of the degree, which indicates an important area of opportunity to reflect and subsequently propose a didactic strategy that achieves a balance between theory and practice, which is also a challenge because the trend it is to separate one from the other to the detriment of a conceptual preparation; the foregoing would also affect a comprehensive training that requires the approach of cinematographic knowledge.
