Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published or has been submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect format.
  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for referrals.
  • The text has simple line spacing; 12 font size points; italics is used instead of underlining (except in URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author's Guidelines, which appear in About the Journal.
  • All submissions are peer-reviewed by the journal, instructions should be followed to ensure anonymous evaluation.
  • The author, once registered as a reader, has requested the Editor of the magazine to change to author, in order to attach the necessary files in his submission.
  • The author (s) is / are clear about the journal's Code of Ethics. COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)
  • Letter of originality and identification of the authors is attached
  • The submission has NOT been previously PUBLISHED or submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word format.
  • The text of the article follows the APA standards seventh edition

Author Guidelines

Razón y Palabra, the first digital magazine in Ibero-America specialized in Communicology, is a non-profit project: it does not pay the authors, nor does it charge for the costs of processing the articles or for their publication.

Regarding the guidelines for authors:

1. Articles must be unpublished and must not have been published in any other specialized magazine.

2. Articles and essays must have the following information:

Title (in Spanish, Portuguese and English)
Author (s) (up to 3 permissions)
University or research center of origin
Email address
Summary of the article in Spanish, Portuguese and English (All are compulsory. The abstract will be up to 30 words)
4 key words (in Spanish, Portuguese and English).
3. The structure of the scientific articles will be as follows:

Introduction: nature of the investigation, its purpose, the problem, the objective and the justification.
Referential framework: theoretical foundation and the context of the study.
Methodology: the method used, the universe, the sample and the reasons for its choice; The data collection and analysis tool must be rigorously explained.
Findings: research results; for this, tables and figures will be used which will serve to support the analysis; the context must be explained and confronted. The figures must be indicated as "Figure 1", "Figure 2" ...; tables such as "Table 1", "Table 2" ..., etc.
Discussion: interpretation of the data in relation to the research, the theoretical model or the idea defended, the support of some hypothesis, the explanation of a particular point of view.
Conclusions: based on the findings and discussion, in addition to pointing out new lines of research and suggestions for the case.
Bibliography: in APA format (Last name, initial of the name. (Year). Book title. Place of publication: Editorial) (See: Style rules)
Notes: are the clarifications that the author makes within the text. These should go to the end of the article.
The titration of the essays will be free; however, the structure of the tests will be as follows:

Introduction: state of the question, question or working hypothesis.
Development: presentation of tests and analysis of the same.
Argumentation: discussion of the issues.
Conclusions: ideas or results of reflection.
Bibliographic references: cited in APA standards.
4. The texts required to be cited with the APA citation standard, 7th. edition (American Psychological Association). Download the citation manual here.

5. The author, once registered as a Reader, has requested the Editor of the magazine to change to Author, in order to attach the necessary files in his submission.

Main file:

Original text, in accordance with the structure of the regulations. This file is the one sent for expert evaluation.

The text must be titled with "Single theme" or "Varia" followed by the date of submission (full year, month and day with two digits, separated by a dash). Example: Monothematic-2016-05-13.

 

Identification file:

In addition, a work identification sheet must be attached, with all the data used for the presentation of the text (author's name, institutional affiliation, brief biography). The same document must contain the responsible declaration of authority and originality, as well as, optionally, the justification for the choice of the magazine, contributions of the work.

For the degree, it must be named: "Identification", last name of the first author and city of origin of the same, separated by high hyphens. Example: Identification-Hidalgo-Quito.

Authors (maximum three authors and in order of hierarchy): name, first surname, city, country (repeat up to three times in case of shared authorships).

Title: Title in Spanish and English.

Pretitle (optional): only in exceptional cases and if they are essential to anchor the title.

Subtitle: in Spanish and English (maximum 60).

Abstract / Abstract: in Spanish and English: up to 300 words.

Key words: in Spanish and English: 4 key words.

Institutional affiliation

Full name (if necessary, the two last names, separated with a hyphen), institution where you work and section (University: Department and Faculty)
Professional appointment (Full Professor, Full Professor, Contracted Doctor, FPI Scholar ...)
Position in the institution: Professor, Researcher, Director ...

Authors are allowed and encouraged to disseminate their works electronically (for example, in institutional repositories or on their own website) before and during the submission process, as it may lead to productive exchanges as well as further citation earliest and largest of published works (See The Effect of Open Access).
