Educate and inform: photography in communicational processes by Instagram about COVID-19

Abstract

The photography has experienced expressive mutant processes since the advent of digital technology, becoming an important protagonist in communicational processes in participatory spaces, such as Instagram. This international exploratory research intends to study, based on a methodological complex that basically comprises bibliographic research and ethnographic research in a digital environment, the effects of photography on the construction of collective knowledge about COVID-19 in Brazil and Spain, transforming Instagram into a contemporary social photography space. It is hoped to obtain, referred to in this proposal as subprojects, subsidies for the development of new perspectives and concepts related to photography as an education and information tool in times of pandemic.
