The Brexit and Trump cases from engineering in social communication

Abstract

2016 will go down on history as a year when democracy brought to reality scenarios that were considered statistically improbable, and their occurrence is a reflection of unconformity with the establishment, especially with the political class that seem off sync to the needs and interests of the people they are supposed to represent. This article is an approach to BREXIT and the U.S. presidential election from the perspective of comunicology and social communication engineering. First we examine each case separately and, in a second instance, points of convergence are analyzed in order to understand how, the selection of speech elements, potentiated with emotion, were decisive to convince the voters on taking a stance.
